ACC football is undergoing a changing of the guard at running back, with the likes of Florida State’s Dalvin Cook, Clemson’s Wayne Gallman and Pitt’s James Conner off to the NFL.
But the next wave of running backs is in, led by Miami’s Mark Walton, who rushed for more than 1,000 yards a season ago. Walton is one of five running backs from the conference named to the watch list for the Doak Walker Award, which is given annually to the nation’s top running back.
Walton was join by Boston College’s Jon Hilliman, Georgia Tech’s Dedrick Mills, Florida State’s Jacques Patrick and Duke’s Shaun Wilson.
Walton is the lone returning rusher that accounted for more than 1,000 yards on the watch list, as he posted 1,117 yards and 14 rushing touchdowns.
