Florida Atlantic coach Lane Kiffin landed two names ACC football fans should be familiar with — defensive end Jeremiah Taleni and linebacker Kain Daub — as transfers this week. Both were expected to be cleared and begin practice on Tuesday according to Sports Illustrated.
Taleni was with the Pittsburgh Panthers until coach Pat Narduzzi dismissed him from the program in April. He posted 5 1/2 tackles for loss last year and had his best game in Pitt’s upset victory against Clemson.
Daub was ranked a 5-star prospect just two years ago at Scout.com and was committed to Florida State. He never played a down for the Seminoles though and transferred to junior college after the 2014 season.
He is the second former Florida State recruit Kiffin has successfully convinced to come to Florida Atlantic this summer, joining quarterback DeAndre Johnson. The Owls have also added defensive end Tim Bonner, who began his career at Louisville, and safety James Pierre, who was initially signed at Syracuse.
