There was a lot of turnover from last year to this year among ACC tight ends, but that didn’t hinder the returning group from having the most players of any conference on the John Mackey Award watch list.
The Mackey Award, given annually to the nation’s top tight end, announced its watch list on Tuesday, with nine players from the ACC making the list.
Louisville placed a pair of tight ends on the list, both Micky Crum and Jordan Davis making their way onto it, while leading returning tight end Cam Serigne of Wake Forest also made the list. Serigne caught 30 passes for 426 yards and three touchdowns in 2016 as a junior.
- Cole Cook — NC State
- Micky Crum — Louisville
- Jordan Davis — Louisville
- Brandon Fritts — North Carolina
- Daniel Helm — Duke
- Chris Herndon — Miami
- Ryan Izzo — Florida State
- Cam Serigne — Wake Forest
- Tommy Sweeney — Boston College
The most recent winner from the ACC was Florida State’s Nick O’Leary in 2014.
