The Boston College football team has won a mere two conference games in the last two seasons, but that didn’t stop Eagles head coach Steve Addazio from making a rather bold statement at the first day of ACC Media Days on Thursday.
Well, at least he was bold about his conference.
Boston College's Steve Addazio also says the ACC is the best conference in college football.
"That's not even debatable anymore."

On one hand, Addazio is right in the sense that the ACC has taken large steps the last few years to becoming an elite, and maybe the best, football conference in the country. The ACC has won two of the last four national championships and two of the most recent four Heisman Trophies.
Perhaps the most telling stat, though, is the ACC went 10-4 against the SEC, including 4-1 in bowl games, in 2016-17. The Big Ten certainly has a say in this argument, but the aforementioned record puts a rather large hole in any argument that the SEC is still the top conference.
Having said that, the Eagles coach may have alternative motives in saying he plays in, by far, the best conference. Under Addazio, Boston College is 10-22 in conference play and only 2-14 since 2015.
With his “undisputed” comment, Addazio is somewhat backhandedly blaming the league for his program’s struggles.
But despite that awful conference record, Boston College still went to the postseason because of its 4-0 non-conference record and beat Maryland 36-30 in the Quick Lane Bowl.
