Arizona State defensive backs coach Tony White believes cornerback Chase Lucas is just scratching the surface.
White has been impressed with Lucas in his first season as the Sun Devils’ defensive back coach. The coach thinks the 6-foot cornerback’s ceiling is high.
“Athletically-wise, he’s a guy who could be in the first or second round,” White said of Lucas’ NFL potential, via 247Sports’ Fabian Ardaya.
Lucas earned second team All-Pac-12 and freshman All-American honors in his first season in Tempe. He totaled 59 tackles and 2 interceptions in 12 games as a freshman.
A year older and more experienced, Arizona State coaches are expecting big things from Lucas this season.
White believes Lucas’ up for the challenge as Arizona State’s best corner.
