The 2018 NBA Draft is a day away. Arizona forward Deandre Ayton is projected to go No. 1, and wing Rawle Alkins is expected to be selected in the first round. Their Wildcats teammate, Allonzo Trier, is a borderline second-round pick.
Some mock drafts have Trier being taken in the second round, others have him signing as an undrafted free agent. NBC Sports believes the Arizona guard could be a second-round steal.
“Given the way in which Trier can shoot the ball, as he made 50.0 percent of his shots from the field and 38.0 percent from three while also shooting better than 86 percent from the foul line, he could prove to be a good pickup for a team that may be looking to add a player who can compete for a roster spot as opposed to going the “draft and stash” route,” NBC Sports’ Raphielle Johnson said.
It’s going to be interested to see if Trier gets drafted or if he goes the undrafted free agent route. If he lands on the right squad he could make the team’s regular-season roster. That means having a choice of which team to sign with as an undrafted free agent might not be a bad option.
