Sports Illustrated completed its list of the top 100 2018 college football players on Thursday. Arizona quarterback Khalil Tate is in the top 10.
The Heisman Trophy candidate is ranked as the fourth-best player in college football by Sports Illustrated.
“The Wildcats may have changed head coaches this offseason, with Texas A&M’s Kevin Sumlin replacing Rich Rodriguez, and defensive coordinators around the Pac-12 have plenty of tape on Tate now. But that doesn’t change what makes him such a devastating playmaker: the pinpoint passes into the outstretched arms of wide receivers, the searing sprints into open space, the ankle-breaking body feints in tight quarters,” Sports Illustrated’s Chris Johnson and Eric Single wrote.
Tate is the highest-ranked quarterback on Sports Illustrated’s list.
There are plenty of expectations heaped on Tate’s shoulders in 2018. That increased when Sumlin moved to Tucson. Tate won a conference-record four consecutive Pac-12 Player of the Week awards last season. Let’s see what he has in store for an encore.
