Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott believes Kevin Sumlin will bring a winning pedigree to Tucson. Scott spoke glowingly of the new Arizona football coach. He thinks Sumlin’s battles in the SEC will bode well in his quest on making the Wildcats an upper echelon Pac-12 team.
“Kevin Sumlin is another coach that comes with an upward trajectory. He is an elite coach that comes with a lot of experience. He’s coached in a tough conference and at one of the biggest schools in Texas. He will certainly generate tons of excitement for Arizona fans.” Scott said, per SB Nation’s Michael J. Wilson.
Playing in what’s considered the toughest conference in college football, Sumlin recorded a 51-26 record at Texas A&M. Arizona’s been hovering around a .500 record for two of the last three years.
Arizona finished 7-6 last year. The Wildcats have a lot of talent returning, most notably quarterback Khalil Tate. Sumlin is going to incorporate an up-tempo offense which could make Arizona’s offense even more dynamic.
