On Friday evening, it was reported by Rivals that Pitt grad transfer Ryan Luther, a 6-foot-9 forward, will be visiting the University of Arizona this weekend.
Because of the graduate transfer rule, Luther still has one year of eligibility remaining, and can play immediately and, well, for a far more successful program as well. Luther played the first 10 games of the season before being ruled out for what became an ignominious year with a foot injury.
In that small sample size, he shined, averaging a double-double: 12.7 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. Pitt famously finished the 2017-18 season on a 19-game losing streak, though Luther sat out for all of them.
At Arizona, Luther adds another layer to an already formidable post alongside Chase Jeter and Ira Lee.
Better yet for the Wildcats, Luther won’t be the only potential transfer in town. He will be joined by Belgian prospect Omar Thielemans, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard.
