Arizona forward Deandre Ayton has been the consensus No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft since the college basketball season concluded. That belief hasn’t changed according to The Athletic.
The Athletic projected Ayton will go No. 1 to the Phoenix Suns in its latest mock draft.
Ayton worked out for the Suns on Wednesday. Following the session, the 7-foot-1 forward expressed confidence his name will be called first in this year’s NBA draft.
“I know I’m going No. 1,” Ayton told reporters after Wednesday’s workout, via The Athletic.
Ayton would instantly form a nice young tandem with guard Devin Booker in Phoenix. The forward has a solid low-post game, can knock down a mid-range jumper and possesses the capability and frame to be an impact player on the defensive end.
DieHards previously illustrated why Ayton should go No. 1 overall and that opinion hasn’t wavered.
