Baylor running back John Lovett’s status for the team’s primetime clash with West Virginia on Saturday is unclear, according to head coach Matt Rhule.
The Bears coach addressed Lovett’s status during his Tuesday press conference, and he said the freshman tailback was still questionable with a toe injury.
“Lovett, I’ll have to see after today’s practice,” Rhule said. “He didn’t do anything yesterday, but that was by design, so I’m hopeful he can do something today. He’d be questionable for the game.”
Lovett’s been a pleasant surprise for Baylor this season, and his absence would be a significant loss to Baylor’s rushing attack.
He’s played in each of Baylor’s six games this season and is the team’s leading rusher with 389 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Rhule did say offensive tackle Mo Porter would be good to go, however, for the Bears’ 8 p.m. ET showdown with the Mountaineers on Saturday. The game will be televised on Fox Sports 1.
