Baylor’s 2019 recruiting class grew one name deeper on Tuesday. Chapin (El Paso, Tex.) linebacker Will Williams committed to Baylor, making him the ninth 2019 prospect set to play for Matt Rhule and the Bears.

Williams’ commitment was part of an eventful day of recruiting for Baylor. First 3-star Hendrickson (Pflugerville, Tex.) safety Myles Brooks announced he was de-committing from the Bears. Not long after, Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Tex.) safety Solomon Turner replaced him, announcing his commitment to Baylor.
Now, Williams adds his name to a recruiting class that so far has been weighted toward defense. An under-the-radar 3-star prospect, Williams committed one day after being offered following an impressive performance at Baylor’s June 16 camp.
A 6-foot-2, 200-pound outside linebacker, Williams is expected to fill a safety/linebacker hybrid type role at Baylor. Williams was an All-City selection in 2017, recording 97 tackles, three passes defensed and one interception.
Baylor’s 2019 commitment list stands at nine. Williams is the second 2019 linebacker to commit to Baylor, following 3-star Beaumont (Tex.) United linebacker Tyrone Brown, who recommitted to Baylor on Sunday.
