Two former Big 12 players dotted the list compiled by USA Today of the 15 most overpaid players in the NFL.
USA Today’s list includes former West Virginia wide receiver Tavon Austin as the third-most overpaid player. Former Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant ranks 10th.
Austin, who makes $14.97 million per year, was picked eighth in the first round in of the 2013 NFL Draft. Despite those lofty expectations, he never has produced more than 58 receptions or 509 yards in any of his four seasons with the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams.
Bryant, who is league’s highest-paid receiver at $17 million per year, has been productive when healthy for the Dallas Cowboys. After a league-leading 16 touchdown receptions in 2014, his production dipped in recent seasons. Bryant combined for 81 catches during two recent injury-marred seasons.
No. 1 on the list was Joe Flacco, quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens, who signed a six-year, $120.6 million contract in 2013.
