Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei athlete Bru McCoy is one of the top prospects in the Class of 2019, and he announced his top 8 on Friday night.
Texas and Oklahoma remain in the mix along with Oregon, USC, Washington, Alabama, Florida State and UCLA.
I’d like to thank all the coaches and schools that have recruited me. This has been a very tough decision for my family and I. With that being said here is my top🎱 pic.twitter.com/zOivGAq0Sh

Of those in the mix, USC is considered the heavy favorite. The Trojans own all 11 of his Crystal Ball projections. However, Texas is a major player in his recruitment. McCoy visited in late April and plans an official visit in September. Oklahoma was scheduled to host McCoy for an official visit, but it did not take place. The Sooners hope to reschedule. Washington is another school expected to officially host McCoy.
The good news for the seven teams seemingly trailing USC is plenty of time remains to sway his decision. McCoy has said he isn’t planning to announce his commitment until the U.S. Army All-American Game in San Antonio in January.
A 5-star prospect, McCoy is being recruited as a wide receiver and a pass rush specialist. As a junior, he recorded 46 receptions for 770 yards and 11 touchdowns on offense and 23 tackles and 2 sacks on defense.
McCoy is ranked as the nation’s No. 21 player, No. 2 athlete and as the No. 2 player in California, per the 247Sports composite rankings.
