CBS Sports released its preseason rankings for the 2017 college football season, but it didn’t stop at 25. All 130 FBS teams got ranked, with five Big 12 teams landing in the top 25 and each of the conference’s 10 schools making it into the top 100.
Oklahoma is top among Big 12 schools at No. 8, but Bedlam rival Oklahoma State isn’t too far behind, ranked 10th. Kansas State is the third Big 12 school, coming in at 20th, with Texas one place behind at No. 21. TCU rounds out the top 25.
The Big 12’s five schools in the top 25 are tied with the SEC for second-most among all conferences. The ACC led the way with six teams.
From there, West Virginia is No. 31, the only other Big 12 school in the top 50. Baylor is 52nd, Texas Tech is 71st and Iowa State is 82nd. Kansas barely sneaked into the top 100 at No. 99. The Jayhawks aren’t even the lowest-ranked Power 5 team, with Rutgers ranked 102nd. Probably just another benefit of beating Texas in football.
