The Big 12 announced the media picks Wednesday for the preseason all-conference team and player awards for the 2017 season.
Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was named preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year. Kansas defensive end Dorance Armstrong Jr. earned preseason Defensive Player of the Year honors. West Virginia quarterback Will Grier was named preseason Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.
Oklahoma and Texas each had five All-Big 12 selections. Kansas State, Oklahoma State and TCU each had four selections. Texas Tech and Iowa State had two. Kansas, West Virginia and Baylor had one selection apiece.
Armstrong, Oklahoma State receiver James Washington, and Oklahoma offensive lineman Orlando Brown were the only unanimous selections.
The preseason all-conference team was voted on by media members from around the league.
