Ranked as a 3-star athlete, Powell is being recruited as a wide receiver and a safety. He played quarterback at Odessa Permian the past two seasons. In 2017, he completed 96 of 195 passes for 1,077 yards and 13 touchdowns, with 5 interceptions. He also rushed 138 times for 1,014 yards and 12 scores.
Thus far, only two Crystal Ball projections have been put in for Powell, but each favor Texas, which is recruiting him as an outside wide receiver. He’s coming off of a weekend official visit to Virginia, however.
Listed at 6-foot-2, Powell is ranked as the nation’s No. 445 player, the No. 37 athlete and the No. 52 player in Texas, per the 247Sports composite.
