The preseason USA Today coaches poll was released Thursday, and five Big 12 teams earned spots in the rankings with Oklahoma coming in at the highest spot.
The Sooners came in at No. 8 overall after the media picked them to win the Big 12 again this season. Oklahoma State was the second-highest ranked Big 12 team at No. 11 overall. Kansas State (19), West Virginia (20) and Texas (23) were also ranked. TCU also received votes.
The Sooners, led by first-year head coach Lincoln Riley, were picked to win the Big 12 by conference media. They’re coming off an 11-2 season and a win over Auburn in the Sugar Bowl. Oklahoma goes on the road to face No. 2 Ohio State in Week 2.
Oklahoma State is in the exact same spot (No. 11) as it was in the final coaches poll of last season. The Cowboys have more preseason hype this year thanks to Heisman candidates Mason Rudolph and James Washington.

Texas, led by new head coach tom Herman, also landed in the preseason top 25 once again. The Longhorns were unranked in the coaches poll at the beginning of last season.
