On Thursday afternoon, the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League announced that they had signed former Cal wide receiver Chris Harper.
After going undrafted in 2015, Harper had been signed by the New England Patriots, making the final 53-man roster though getting cut after just one game. After re-signing onto the practice squad, Harper was promoted to the active roster following an injury to wide receiver Julian Edelman.
Prior to the 2016 season, Harper was cut by the Patriots and signed by the 49ers, though he didn’t play a game for San Francisco, getting cut and then signed by the Jets in 2017, where he was also eventually waived.
The Argos, meanwhile, are coming off another Grey Cup title, their 17th, a CFL record.
