With so much talent within its own state, California doesn’t often have to look much further when it comes to recruiting. Its 22-player class for 2018 featured 17 signees from the Golden State and one each from five other states.
It’s early in the 2019 recruiting cycle, but of the four players the Golden Bears have commitments from there are as many from Arizona as from California. And those Arizona commits, both of whom pledged to Cal on Sunday, are teammates at Liberty High School in California.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Puskas is ranked No. 1,344 in the 2019 class by 247Sports, which has him as the No. 102 outside linebacker and the 25th-best Arizona prospect. His commitment came immediately after an unofficial visit to Cal at the same time as Crocteau.
Now with four commitments for 2019, Cal’s recruiting class ranks No. 37 in the country and third-best in the Pac-12.
