On Thursday night, Cal received a verbal — though on Twitter, is it still technically verbal? — commitment from Miles Owens, a behemoth of an offensive tackle out of Oakland, California.
He wrote, via Twitter, that he “will continue my football career at UC Berkeley.”

Owens, a three-star prospect ranked as the No. 3 offensive tackle in the state of California, according to 247sports, checks in at 6-foot-7 and weighs 315 pounds, an impassible mass of a high school senior. His list of suitors was predictably long, including schools ranging from Hawaii to Oregon State to UCLA and Utah, among others.
Owens is the second player out of Bishop O’Dowd High School’s class of 2018 to commit, as teammate Jevon Holland, a four-star athlete, has already pledged his loyalty to Oregon.
