The Clemson Tigers didn’t repeat as football national champions during the 2017 season. While they did make a third straight College Football Playoffs appearance, the Tigers bowed out in the semifinals against the eventual champion Alabama Crimson Tide.
But those are minor details in the mind of 3-star tackle Andrew Kristofic.
When speaking with Land of 10’s Ryan Donnelly this week, Kristofic included Clemson in his top-4 schools. Donnelly reports the Tigers were late in recruiting Kristofic, but he visited Clemson last Saturday and walked away impressed.
“It was an awesome trip to Clemson. I had high expectations going into it and they exceeded all of those expectations. It was a great trip. The pictures and everything, they don’t do it justice to how amazing that place is. It’s easy to see why they’re so successful whenever you talk to all of those guys that are down there,” said Kristofic, according to Donnelly. “They have a whole bunch of lakes right on campus. Campus is beautiful in and of itself aside from the football stuff. And even all of the football stuff — that’s brand new, it’s all state-of-the-art.
“They’re like the hottest team in the country right now and they’re trending upwards. They’re really at the top right now. Like all of the schools, I feel very comfortable with the coaches and program.”
Notre Dame, Ohio State and Wisconsin were the other three schools in his top 4. Kristofic may revisit those four campuses, but Donnelly reports the tackle is close to making a decision and could make an official announcement before the end of April.
Kristofic is classified as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports and the No. 10 overall Pennsylvania recruit in the 2019 class.
