The sporting debate on Sunday centered on whether Ohio State or Alabama would gain the fourth spot in the College Football Playoff’s final rankings. Clemson, Georgia and Oklahoma were safely in by virtue of their wins in their respective conference championships.
Of course, it was the Crimson Tide being slated as the No. 4 seed and the team to face No. 1 Clemson on New Year’s Day in the Sugar Bowl. With a third straight playoff game looming, Tigers players revealed that the Tide were who they wanted all along, according to Matt Connelly from The State in South Carolina.Austi
“I wanted to play them again. You can ask the guys, we wanted to play them again,” Tigers linebacker Kendall Joseph said Wednesday. “The chance to have three times going against them would be awesome, so we’re excited.”
Clemson will indeed get its chance. It won the last meeting between the two teams in January, where Hunter Renfrow’s last-second touchdown catch lifted the Tigers to their second national championship. It served as revenge for the year prior when Alabama won its 16th title.
Can the Tigers get a second straight win against the Crimson Tide next month and put themselves back in the national championship game? Time will tell.
