Former Clemson football star Mike Williams is not expected to see the field during his first NFL training camp.
On Sunday, the Los Angeles Chargers announced that their first-round draft pick is not likely to practice during training camp after being placed on the active/physically unable to perform list due to a back injury.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter previously reported that Williams might need back surgery on the herniated disk that could end his rookie year with the Chargers.
Williams was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft after leaving Clemson a year early. He caught 177 passes for 1,361 yards and 21 touchdowns in his career at Clemson, which spanned three full seasons and one game in 2016. Williams fractured his neck in the first game of the 2016 season making a touchdown catch and missed the rest of the season
