Just a week ago, Clemson had four commits for the 2019 recruiting class. In a matter of days, Clemson’s class has more than doubled in size, and the Tigers added another recruit in 4-star running back Chez Mellusi.
Mellusi announced his commitment to the Tigers via Twitter on Monday night.

A Naples, FL native, Mellusi is the No. 18 running back and 289th overall best player in the 2019 recruiting class according to 247Sports. He was reportedly very interested in Notre Dame, but obviously, he ended up going in a different direction. The running back also received offers from South Carolina, Michigan, Arkansas, Auburn and 13 other Power 5 schools.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, Mellusi is also considered the 44th-best player from Florida in the 2019 class.
Since Friday, Clemson has landed five recruits, which means the program now has nine players committed for 2019. In addition to Mellusi, the Tigers added 3-star outside linebacker Bryton Constantin on Friday and then 5-star wide receiver Frank Ladson, 4-star quarterback Taisun Phommachanh, along with 3-star safety Lannden Zanders on Saturday.
There’s still a long way to go until National Signing Day, but with these additions, the Tigers now possess the No. 9 recruiting class for 2019 according to 247Sports. The class is also third in the ACC.
