Just hours prior to Clemson football fans receiving a glimpse of the 2018 team in the Tigers spring game, Clemson received a commitment from 5-star wide receiver Frank Ladson.

“A wise person once told me that committing to a college football team is like committing to a marriage,” Ladson wrote in a Twitter post. “When people commit to marriage, they vow to be devoted, loyal, and fair to one another … so although the nature of the two are not the same, the meaning of the word ‘commitment’ holds the same weight.”
Ladson continued: “I want to be surrounded by people that will tend to the 34-year-old me, and not just the 17-year-old me. It is for these reasons that today, I am standing firm in my commitment to be a TIGER at Clemson University.”
Ladson, who attends South Dade High School in Miami, is one of the best wide receivers in the 2019 recruiting class. He is the third-highest ranked receiver in the class, the third-best prospect from Florida and the No. 14 overall player in the country, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
He reportedly received offers from dozens of other schools but chose Clemson instead of Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Alabama, Florida and many others.
With his commitment, the Tigers have six players pledged to the 2019 class. Ladson is the first 5-star prospect Clemson has landed for 2019.
Clemson’s class for next year is ranked 17th in the country. That’s 10 spots below where Clemson’s 2018 recruiting class was ranked, but there’s still a long way to go until National Signing Day.
