Marvel and ESPN, who are both owned by the Disney company, teamed up to release a special edition comic book cover this week, featuring the super heroes of college football a.k.a. the last three national champions – the Clemson Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide and Ohio State Buckeyes.
To celebrate Year 4 of the College Football Playoff, ESPN and @Marvel team up to create new custom comic covers.

Over the last three years, these three teams have faced each other a combined four times in the College Football Playoff. The Tigers reigned supreme last year, as they knocked off both the Buckeyes and Crimson Tide on their way to the National Championship. In 2016, Alabama beat Clemson in the title game, and in the previous season, which was the first for the CFP format, Ohio State defeated Alabama in the National Semifinal and then upset Oregon to win the championship.
Alabama and Ohio State are favorites to land back in the College Football Playoff again this coming season, but Florida State is the popular preseason pick to represent the ACC in the final four. Even still, nobody will be surprised if Clemson is there again this winter, and should some other team emerge as a serious contender, then they will have to go through these college football “superheroes” to win the title.
