Colorado appears to have found its replacement for hot-shooting guard George King, dipping into the junior college ranks to get a commitment from Shane Gatling.

The 6-foot-2 Gatling began his career at Niagara, where he averaged 4.7 points per game as a freshman in 2016-17. In one season at Indian Hills Community College in Iowa he averaged 16.6 points per game and shot 38.9 percent from 3-point range, draining 102 triples in 34 games.
Those numbers earned him JUCO All-America honors from the NJCAA. They’re also comparable to the stats King had in 2017-18 for Colorado as a senior when he averaged 12.9 points and shot 39.5 percent from three.
Gatling would be Colorado’s fourth addition in the 2018 class. It previously signed 3-star guards Daylen Kountz and Elijah Parquet and 3-star forward Jakub Dombek, giving the Buffaloes the No. 77 class in the country and the 10th-best group in the Pac-12, according to the 247Sports composite.
