A year after a disastrous kicking situation hindered its special teams, Duke football is heavily in pursuit of a better answer at kicker.
So much so, that coach David Cutcliffe is giving four inexperienced players the opportunity to earn the starting kicker position.
“It’s a four-ring circus right now,” Cutcliffe said per the Herald Sun.
The Blue Devils have kickers Jack Driggers, Jackson Hubbard and William Holmquist involved in the race, as well as punter Austin Parker. All four are looking to fill the shoes left by AJ Reed, who made only 3 of 10 field goals last season. Reed remains on the roster, but is reportedly not in the competition.
