Vic Bubas, the former Duke coach who led the Blue Devils to three Final Fours, died at age 91 on Monday. No cause of death was given.
Mike Krzyzewski says Duke “lost a true legend.” Bubas was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2007 and went 213-67 as head coach of the Blue Devils. He reached three final fours in a four-year span from 1963-1966.

As for his legacy? Former North Carolina coach Dean Smith once said, “Vic taught us all how to recruit, we had been starting on prospects in the fall of their senior years while Vic was working on them their junior year. For a while, all of us were trying to catch up with him.”
May he rest in peace.
