The Duke-North Carolina college basketball rivalry is arguably operating at its highest level ever from a pure talent perspective. The Tar Heels have made two of the last three National Championship Games, while Duke is recruiting more 1-and-done stars than anyone.
Sports Illustrated released a 2019 NBA Draft big board Friday, and players from Duke and North Carolina occupy the top four spots. In order they are: R.J. Barrett (Duke), Cam Reddish (Duke), Nassir Little (UNC) and Zion Williamson (Duke).
Here’s SI’s blurb on Barrett:
As it stands, Barrett is on track to follow Andrew Wiggins and Anthony Bennett as the third Canadian-born No. 1 pick in the last seven drafts. An athletic, slashing wing, Barrett’s ability to get to the basket and create off the dribble coupled with the consistency of his play has earned him the top spot coming out of high school. He’ll eventually have to address NBA teams’ concerns about his jump shot.
Tobacco Road remains a college hoops hotbed.
