The final chapter in the 2018 college football recruiting cycle is set to unfold as National Signing Day is set to take place on Wednesday.
Florida State and new coach Willie Taggart figure to be busy on Signing Day as the Seminoles enter the day with 16 commitments in a class rated No. 14 nationally according to the 247Sports team rankings.
Seven of those pledges signed in the early signing period in December and three members of that group are on campus as early enrollees.
However, Taggart and his staff have a handful of key targets they are hoping to hear good news from Wednesday in an effort to close out their initial class on a high note.
Which targets should Seminoles fans be paying close attention to, and when will their announcements be made?
Stay tuned to Florida State DieHards as we will be bringing you coverage all day long as the Seminoles wrap up their 2018 recruiting class.
Florida State recruiting updates, signee tracker for National Signing Day
Some mobile users can find a better reading experience here.
12:28 am ET: Harrison has officially been announced as a signee by Florida State.
11:38 am ET: James Foster has committed to Texas A&M, per AL.com. That’s a huge win for former Seminoles coach Jimbo Fisher over his former school. Florida State has had a great day, but the class has a hole in it without a quarterback. If you are looking for the primary need in the 2019 cycle, it’s clearly finding at least one, if not, two talented passers.
11:35 am ET: Chatman has officially been announced as a signee by Florida State.
11:26 am ET: Florida State landed a commitment from 3-star Rome (Ga.) defensive tackle Jamarcus Chatman, according to Chris Nee of Noles247. Chatman was considered a lean to Miami late in the process, but he picked the Seminoles over the Hurricanes. He’s likely to play defensive end for the Seminoles and he further upgrades a big-time defensive line class.
11:25 am ET: 3-star Zephyrhills (Fla.) Wesley Chapel DE Chaz Neal has signed with Florida State. Neal is expected to play along the offensive line in Tallahassee.
11:17 am ET: another big win for Florida State as 4-star Seattle Garfield athlete Tre’Shaun Harrison has announced his commitment to the Seminoles. Harrison will play receiver for Florida State. Getting him to come all the way across the country from the Pacific Northwest is a monster get for Taggart. Now, Taggart will wait on Young to try and close out the Seminoles class at receiver.
10:41 am ET: Lamar has been officially confirmed as in by Florida State.
10:35 am ET: Another FSU target is off the board and headed elsewhere as 4-star Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage DE Andrew Chatfield selected Florida. That move was not unexpected as his recruitment came down to the Gators and the Hurricanes.
10:32 am ET: But, it wasn’t all bad at Armwood as Lamar made it official in making the call for Florida State.
10:31 am ET: At Armwood’s ceremony, 3-star LB target James Miller announced for Indiana. He was on FSU’s campus last weekend and the Seminoles were believed to be the favorites heading into his announcement
9:09 am ET: There’s a growing buzz with 4-star Montgomery (Ala.) Lanier QB James Foster that Texas A&M is a real threat to land him today. That intel is based on conversations from both FSU and Texas A&M sources. I still don’t think it’s a done deal, but at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if he picks the Aggies when he announces. That’s a huge turnaround from where Foster’s recruitment was when he left Tallahassee on Sunday following his official visit to Florida State.
9:04 am ET: To add on Lamar, I fully expect his pick to still be Florida State whenever it gets cleared up.
8:58 am ET: Some confusion about the status of 4-star defensive end Malcolm Lamar. FSU football’s Twitter account posted a tweet about him being officially signed but it looks like that tweet has been deleted. Armwood is scheduled to have a ceremony at 10:00 am ET, and there could be clarification on his status at that time.
7:55 am ET: The first big surprise of the day for Florida State as they flip 3-star Buford (Ga.) RB Anthony Grant from Tennessee. Running back did not appear to be a need for Florida State, but it was clear that Willie Taggart wanted one in this class with the way he continued to pursue targets at that position down the stretch. The Seminoles have two other top targets from the state of Georgia they will now wait on in 3-star Rome (Ga.) defensive tackle Jamarcus Chatman and 3-star Conyers (Ga.) Heritage receiver Jordan Young, who is also committed to Tennessee entering the day.
