Florida State football scored a huge pickup in recruiting Friday, as 5-star defensive back Akeem Dent announced his commitment to the Seminoles.
Dent is the top rated cornerback and the No. 5 ranked player overall in the 2019 recruiting class. He is the highest-rated player currently committed in that class according to 247Sports.

The 6-foot and 170-pound cornerback is from West Palm Beach, FL. He committed to Miami last year but decommitted a few months ago. Dent has attended football camps in Tallahassee each of the last two years and told 247Sports that he already has a great relationship with Florida State defensive coordinator Charles Kelly.
“I like his personality, we relate. He’s a good coach too. We worked on T-step and some basics, just getting better,” he said.
Florida State might be loaded at defensive back in a couple years. The Seminoles already have two top 15 cornerbacks, including the No. 5 CB, from the 2018 recruiting class committed, and now will add Dent a year later.
Good luck to the rest of the ACC or really any team that’s going to try to pass against Florida State in the next few seasons.
