Florida State checks in as top ACC team at No. 3 in CBS Sports rankings

Florida State landed at No. 3 in CBS Sports’ rankings of all 130 FBS teams. The Seminoles sit behind No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Ohio State and are the highest ranked team from the ACC.

The order of the top three in CBS’ rankings is the same as the Amway Coaches Poll, which was released on Thursday. The Seminoles are coming off a 10-3 season, which concluded with a 33-32 victory over Michigan in the Orange Bowl.

FSU returns redshirt sophomore Deondre Francois, who finished last season with 20 touchdowns, seven interceptions and completed 235 of 400 passes. ESPN ranked redshirt sophomore safety Derwin James, who only played in two games last season due to a knee injury, as the top player in college football.

Clemson ranks as the sixth best team, according to CBS Sports. The defending national champions are one spot below where they placed in the Amway Coaches Poll. Louisville is slotted at No. 17 and Miami is at No. 18. Virginia Tech (No. 22) and N.C. State (No. 23) round out the six ACC teams that CBS Sports placed in the top 25.

Here’s where the rest of the ACC is ranked by CBS Sports:

39. Georgia Tech
