“After long thought, prayers and visits,” he wrote. “First, I would like to thank God for blessing me with this awesome opportunity. I would like to thank my family, especially my parents for supporting and going through this journey with me, thanks to [IMG head coach Kevin] Wright as well for helping with this decision, to all schools that gave me a chance to play the game of football, and to all of you who supported me in this process.
“I would like everyone to know I’m officially committed to Florida State University!”
Brown is rated the No.2 center and No. 36 player from Illinois in the 2018 recruiting class.
247Sports rates him as an Illinois player because Brown is originally from Chicago. Following the 2016 season, he transferred from Mount Carmel High to powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Brown picked the Seminoles over the Ohio State Buckeyes, considered to be the toughest competition for his services. But he had 19 total offers, including from Illinois, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UCLA and Wisconsin.
Brown is ranked the fourth-highest rated prospect in the Florida State 2018 recruiting class, which now includes 13 players. With this addition, the Seminoles’ class for next year is rated third in the ACC and ninth overall in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings.
