Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher addressed the media for the first time this preseason on Tuesday afternoon and dropped a nugget of intrigue about one of his top players. Fisher mentioned that redshirt sophomore safety Derwin James could potentially be used on offense.

James redshirted in 2016 after sustaining a a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee in Week 2. As a freshman in 2015, James recorded 91 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and five pass breakups. He was named All-ACC Third Team.
Entering this season, expectations are very high for James. On Tuesday morning, ESPN released its Top 50 players in college football and he topped the list. ESPN described him as “perhaps the most versatile player in college football.”
