John Huggins is a 3-star safety in the Class of 2018 who committed to Florida State under the Jimbo Fisher regime. But coaching changes can result in late recruiting moves, and Huggins bolted to rival Florida after the Seminoles hired Willie Taggart.
Huggins opened up about his decision to switch in SEC Country’s “Recruiting Rewind” series, and it’s eye-opening. Take a look:
“Taggart would like come by the school, walk right past me like he didn’t know me or anything.
“So I was like, ‘All right,’ ” Huggins recalled. “Really, when they walked past me, I was like, ‘Man, I can’t wait to play them.’ I can’t wait to play them come fall. That game’s circled for me.”
This will only add more juice to the rivalry. Florida State fans are hoping Taggart was right in his choice not to go all out in securing Huggins’ commitment.
