On Nov. 18, 2011, Iowa State pulled off a stunning upset of No. 2 Oklahoma State — beating the Cowboys 37-31 in double overtime. The win ultimately derailed Oklahoma State’s BCS hopes, missing the title game by a fraction of a percent.
The game marked the first win over an AP top-5 team in program history for the Cyclones.
It was a night at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames that Cyclones fans still hold dear. With the team’s resurgence in 2017, results like that might not be so uncommon going forward.
