Dayton basketball’s James Kane is set to become an assistant coach at Iowa State, according to a tweet from CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein Friday.

Former assistant Neill Berry went from Iowa State to Texas in May, leaving coach Steve Prohm and the Cyclones with an empty spot on their staff.
Before coming to Dayton as an assistant coach, Kane had been at Murray State for six seasons, from 2011-2017. He has experience as a highly technical coach, having run the video department with the Racers during his tenure there, according to his Dayton bio.
Iowa State struggled to a 13-18 finish last season, but Prohm has young talent to work with in players like Nick Weiler-Babb and Lindell Wigginton. With the addition of Kane, the Cyclones have some young talent on the coaching staff as well.
