Iowa State defensive back Brian Peavy has been one of the Cyclones top defenders all season long.
On Saturday, Peavy was among the very best in the entire Big 12.
Throughout Iowa State’s 23-13 road win over Baylor, Peavy matched his season high with 10 tackles, along with 2 tackles for loss and a key forced fumble in the fourth quarter. Such a praiseworthy performance earned Peavy honors as the Big 12 Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

A junior out of Houston, Texas, Peavy’s 10 tackles against the Bears were his most since Iowa State’s season-opening win over Northern Iowa. His latest effort helped lift the Cyclones to their seventh win of the season, which more than doubles Iowa State’s 2016 performance of just three wins.
Ahead of appearing in its first bowl game since 2012, though, Iowa State will close the regular season on the road against a Kansas State team that’s fresh off of an upset win over No. 13 Oklahoma State.
In what will now be a battle of bowl eligible teams, one thing that’s held true this season is that Peavy will come to play, just as he has en route to 75 total tackles, which ranks No. 3 on the team. Peavy has also recorded 6 tackles for loss and 2 interceptions.
Peavy shared the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors with Texas linebacker Gary Johnson.
