A 6-foot-5, 170-pound athlete, Blaylock has excelled on both sides of the ball for New Deal. Blaylock was a first team All-District selection at receiver and second team All-District at safety as a junior, and is expected to fit in as a receiver in college.
Blaylock recorded 21 receptions for 336 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2017, while also contributing 3 interceptions and 3 fumble recoveries on defense. A consensus 3-star prospect according to 247Sports composite, Blaylock is ranked as the No. 81 athlete and the No. 124 player in Texas for the Class of 2019.
Blaylock committed after his official visit to Ames this weekend. Iowa State has been on a recruiting tear lately, getting commitments from linebacker Aric Horne on Friday and guard Darrell Simmons on Saturday.
Blaylock is the fourth wide receiver to commit to Iowa State in the Class of 2019, joining other 3-star prospects in Darien Porter (Bettendorf, Iowa), D’Shayne James (Gilbert Ariz.) and Nathaniel Beal III (Houston).
