Virginia outside linebacker Eric Gallon II is transferring to Kansas State, he announced Monday.
He’s the son of former Kansas State running back Eric Gallon, who played for the Wildcats from 1989-1992. The junior will have to sit out the 2017 season due to NCAA transfer rules. He played in 12 games last season for the Cavaliers, recording 1 tackle.

The Wildcats could be in need of some depth at linebacker next season. All of the linebackers on their projected two-deep for 2017 are either seniors or juniors.
Gallon was a 3-star recruit out of Lakeland (Fla.) Christian School in 2015, according to the 247Sports Composite. He chose Virginia over offers from Army, Cincinnati, USF and Western Kentucky, among others.
