As far as must-see NBA regular-season games, former Kansas standout Joel Embiid’s first game against heralded Lakers rookie point guard Lonzo Ball will be appealing.
Embiid and his Philadelphia teammate Ben Simmons tweeted responses about some of the early comments made by Ball’s father, LaVar.
Earlier, Embiid dreamed of Simmons’ first game against Ball.
Please dunk on him so hard that his daddy runs on the court to save him.. https://t.co/cMvt5RYiSQ

As expected, Embiid’s dad lashed out at the Sixers when his son’s abilities were questioned.
“When you don’t win and don’t even make the playoffs, and don’t even stay on the court long enough, that’s the best thing you can do is tweet, make some stuff,” the elder Ball said to the Fanatic 97.5 FM in Philadelphia. “So guess what, get your asses off the g—d–n (Twitter) and get in the gym.”
That response provoked an understandably NSFW response from Embiid after he learned of it.
The first game between the Lakers and Sixers can’t come soon enough.
It should be the most anticipated meeting between them since Moses Malone and Magic Johnson hooked up in the 1983 Finals.
