The Jayhawks are coming off a narrow Sweet 16 win over Clemson that saw Kansas nearly toss away a 20-point lead.
As for Duke, Coach K and Co. survived Jim Boehim and Syracuse in the Sweet 16.
A ticket to the Final Four hinges on a battle between two of college basketball’s legendary programs.
“Two great programs, two really big programs,” Duke guard Grayson Allen said, according to ESPN. “It’s going to be an awesome game.”
Big 12 champion Kansas has routinely proved doubters wrong throughout the year, a thought not lost on Kansas head coach Bill Self.
“I think of all the teams that we’ve had here,” Self said, “this would be the team that everyone would have thought would not be in this game.”
Duke’s zone will prove a tough test to solve for Kansas’ elite perimeter shooting.
“I feel we as long as we are making shots we’re going to be good,” Kansas guard Malik Newman said, per the Kansas City Star. “We have to keep those guys off the glass. I feel we have four guards who can go get 20 (points) any day and a big man (Udoka Azubuike) who can go get 20 points any day. I feel the mismatch falls on us at the end of the day.”
Duke enters the game as a favorite (-3) over Kansas according to Oddsshark.
