Bill Self comes in at No. 6 on The Big Lead’s list of current best coaches
Bill Self is not without his flaws, but he’s still one of the best coaches in the nation, according to The Big Lead’s Ryan Phillips.
Self comes in at No. 6 in Phillips’s rankings of the best current college basketball coaches.
Ahead of Self are John Calipari of Kentucky, Roy Williams of North Carolina, Mike Krzyzewski of Duke, Tom Izzo of Michigan State, and Jay Wright of Villanova.
In pure coincidences, five of the top six coaches currently coach at schools where a shade of blue is the primary color.
In stats that matter, Bill Self is 447-96 at Kansas over his career. He’s riding one of the greatest streaks in the history of the Big 12 Conference as well: 14 straight regular season titles.
While Kansas has faltered in the NCAA Tournament in recent years, Self took the 2017-2018 team to the Final Four, where they fell to eventual National Champion Villanova.
