Billy Preston was involved in a single-vehicle accident on the Kansas campus Saturday and will not play against Kentucky on Tuesday night, according to a release from Jayhawks coach Bill Self via the Kansas basketball Twitter account.

Preston is being held out of the marquee matchup due to the unclear financial picture surrounding the incident. He will return to the court once a review of the incident is complete.
To say the least, it’s a confusing statement. It’s unclear why Preston was held out; an accident should only bar him from taking the court for physical reasons, not financial. Regardless, Kansas will have to take on the Kentucky Wildcats without Preston, a former 5-star recruit.
Preston has still not logged his first minute in a KU jersey. He was held out of the Jayhawks’ season opener for missing curfew and class.
