Former Louisville defensive end Chris Williams entered a plea of not guilty on felony theft charges in Jefferson District Court on Wednesday.
Williams faces charges of stealing money from his teammate’s bank accounts. According to a report from the Courier-Journal, he allegedly stole $2,300 from teammates Robbie Bell, Tobias Little and Caleb Tillman. The former defensive lineman is accused of “tricking them into giving him their back account information” in April. He was arrested June 23.
Williams will appear in court with co-defendant Laderius Malik Slaughter on Oct. 4. If charged, they could serve a prison sentence between one to five years.
The 2017 season was supposed to be Williams’ senior year, but the Louisville coaching staff dismissed him some time over the summer. Coach Bobby Petrino officially announced Williams was no longer with the team on Monday,
