Louisville Cardinals leading scorer Deng Adel will not return for his senior season after hiring an agent in advance of the 2018 NBA Draft.
Adel originally declared without an agent, reserving the right to return to Louisville if the feedback indicated he could benefit from another year in school. However, Shams Charania of Yahoo! Sports reported on Monday that Adel had made his final decision.
After spending his freshman season primarily as a reserve, Adel earned his way into the starting lineup as a sophomore and averaged 12.1 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Last season, Adel was even more productive, scoring 14.9 points and snatching 5.2 rebound while dishing out 2.8 assists per game and knocking down 35 percent of his 3-pointers.
Louisville will now have four open scholarship for new coach Chris Mack to fill before the start of the 2018-19 season, and it’s become clear that he’ll aggressively recruit the graduate transfer market to round out his first roster.
