Donovan Mitchell has received his share of press in the past week. On Tuesday, the Utah Jazz rookie’s pregame attire included a hoodie with the word “Rookie” and its literal definition – set off by a playful back-and-forth with fellow first-year player Ben Simmons. That same evening, he broke the league’s record for 3-pointers made by a rookie, previously set by Damian Lillard.
On Wednesday, the former Louisville standout was at it again before Utah’s game against Portland.

You can’t accuse Mitchell of not being a master troll, because this is the second night in a row that he’s pulled this off. With him and Simmons the apparent frontrunners for the NBA’s Rookie of the Year awards, there’s no question that he’s hoping to send a clear message that he believes that he should win it.
The good news? Mitchell’s backed it up with his play on the court, leading the Jazz in scoring with 20.5 points per game and ranking third in assists per game with 3.7. The even better news? We’ll get to see him in the NBA Playoffs beginning this weekend.
