Former Louisville basketball player Mangok Mathiang got an NBA shot this summer with the Charlotte Hornets. Apparently, it went quite well.
Mathiang signed a two-way deal with Charlotte, according to the Charlotte Observer’s Rick Bonnell. The deal allows Mathiang to play for the Hornets or the team’s G-League affiliate in Greensboro, N.C.
Charlotte also signed former North Carolina guard Marcus Paige to a two-way deal on Tuesday.
Mathiang went undrafted in June, signing with the Hornets for summer league action. He played in the Orlando Summer League, averaging 4.4 points and 5.0 rebounds a game.
The 6-foot-10 Mathiang averaged career highs in his final season at Louisville, scoring 7.8 points per game and pulling down 6.0 rebounds per game.
